Youth Day 2022 saw young and old gather for a jam-packed programme in Klapmuts in the Western Cape.

Some 250 energetic community members ensured that adrenaline levels were at an all-time high with activities ranging from netball, soccer, a marathon, “boere sport” games and dancing. About 165 spectators gathered to enjoy the fun and games.

Thank you to the Klapmuts Development Forum for organising the event, as well as to other participating stakeholders, including Ubuntu, the Community Policing Forum, Family in Focus and Action for You. The main sponsor for the day was the Nedbank Proud of my Town programme, with co-sponsors including Stellenbosch Bridge, SAPS and Table Bay Panels.

Community sport, teambuilding and fun days are key to building social cohesion, whilst providing healthy and constructive ways to relax together in a safe and positive environment. Sport, Art & Culture is one of ten programmes that Ranyaka implements under the banner of the Nedbank Proud of my Town programme – and the Klapmuts Youth Day event is a great example of this programme in action.

We look forward to seeing many more such events take place in Klapmuts as local stakeholders and residents join forces to bring positive change in their community!

Klapmuts is one of 21 communities in 9 towns in 8 provinces in South Africa that is part of Nedbank’s Proud of my Town initiative.
