Fifteen volunteers from Stellenbosch and Kayamandi joined the Ranyaka team on Saturday to paint Lillies’ Crèche. The crèche was painted with special fire-retardant paint in December. This weekend, we added a bright top coat.

The fire-retardant (intumescent) paint delays the rate at which flames spread should a fire break out at the ECD centre. Thank you to Khusela Ikhaya Project and Impact Fire for partnering with us on this journey to make our crèches safer spaces for the children!

Lillies Crèche is one of 20 ECD centres in Stellenbosch and 40 in Paarl that form part of an ECD programme that Ranyaka is implementing on behalf of Nedbank.

Safety, nutrition and training are the key components of the programme, which is funded by Nedbank’s Proud of my Town fund.

Now that Lillies Crèche has been painted, principal Veronica is one step closer to having her ECD centre registered with the relevant authorities!

Thank you to all our volunteers who gave of their time on a Saturday morning for this worthy cause!
