Tourism destinations, guest houses, hotels and restaurants in Magaliesburg, Gauteng are set to benefit from The Cradle Tourism Company‘s marketing plans for the year.

Cradle Tourism is an independent non-profit company which was created to help drive tourism in this highly acclaimed tourism hotspot. They shared their marketing strategy for 2019 at a breakfast function held this morning.

“Plans include providing a platform for Magalies’ tourism destinations at shows, workshops and providing general marketing assistance. The promotion of township tourism is one of its focus areas for the year,” says Ryan Marsden – Magalies Development Initiative co-ordinator and Ranyaka’s representative in Magaliesburg.

Magaliesburg in Gauteng has a long-standing reputation as a tranquil weekend breakaway spot, a haven for artists and a treasure trove of heritage in the form of, amongst others, the Cradle of Humankind. There are many more gems to be discovered in Magalies and surrounds and as the we are excited to see the fruit of TCTC’s work in Magaliesburg!

Ranyaka started working in Magaliesburg in 2013, launching the Magalies Development Initiative (MDI) in collaboration with the community of Magalies and local stakeholders.

The MDI is not an organisation. It is a citizens’ networking programme that was launched in 2013 to unlock the resources of the town of Magaliesburg. Today, the work of the MDI testifies to the power of a community mobilising itself and taking ownership of its development.

Magaliesburg is also part of Nedbank’s Proud of my Town initiative, for which Ranyaka is the implementing agent. For the past six years, Ranyaka has been working with the community of Magalies to help bring about positive socio-economic change in a manner that is sustainable and driven by local change agents.
