As rewarding as having your own business may be, any entrepreneur knows that it can also be very overwhelming at times.

Regardless of how passionate you are about your product or service or how great a salesperson you are, chances are good that you simply do not have all the support and resources available to ensure that your business has the best possible chance at long-term success.

On 30 June 2022, we celebrated the launch of the next round of the Ranyaka Building Business (RBB) programme for Mamelodi. A total of 65 local entrepreneurs joined in the event where they had the opportunity to learn more about the programme and how it could help their small businesses reach their full potential.

Funded by Nedbank Enterprise Development and supported by the Nedbank Proud of my Town programme, Ranyaka’s Building Business programme is geared towards micro and small businesses. It aims to help business owners be successful as well as to assist in building local economies, create strong and beneficial networks, and to help uplift and grow their own communities.

The launch programme included a discussion around business banking and compliance that was facilitated by Nedbank as well as a presentation by Ranyaka team members that addressed various aspects of the Building Business programme. Building Business is one of ten programmes that are being implemented in 21 communities across the country under the Nedbank Proud of My Town umbrella.

As one of the main facilitators of the programme in Mamelodi, Seleki Business Solutions shed light on some of the common challenges faced by small business and also shared some of the solutions they can offer to help overcome these challenges.

Attendees were also addressed by Digify Africa, who shared valuable information about the importance of having an online presence as a small business.

After the event, attendees had the opportunity to onboard their businesses into the RBB programme by completing a short questionnaire via WhatsApp. Fifty businesses will form part of the training and capacity-building process. By the end of August, twenty businesses will be selected to be fully-fledged participants of the Building Business programme.

We look forward to journeying with every one of them and seeing them reach greater heights as they pursue their entrepreneurial dreams!

Mamelodi is one of 21 communities in 9 towns in 8 provinces across South Africa that is part of Nedbank’s Proud of my Town initiative.
