The recent looting of malls in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng has threatened the survival of hundreds of small businesses. In response to this crisis, Ranyaka is currently implementing a small business relief and recovery intervention under the banner of the Nedbank Proud of my Town (PoMT) initiative. Also on board is national social enterprise, Fix Forward, who are also raising funds and recruiting volunteer business mentors to assist these small businesses under their Restore SA campaign banner.
We are now pleased to announce that Nedbank is also supporting the relief and recovery programme through its Greenbacks programme.
Earlier this year, Nedbank announced that their Greenbacks programme makes it possible for clients to support the Proud of my Town initiative – a holistic community transformation programme currently implemented in 9 towns across South Africa.
For the next three months (August to October 2021), all Greenbacks contributions that Nedbank clients donate to the COMMUNITY option, will go towards supporting the small business relief and recovery intervention. This means that Nedbank clients can actually donate their Greenbacks towards a fund that will help these small businesses to get back on their feet!
Nedbank clients – here is how you can support

If you are a Nedbank client already, join the Greenbacks Programme on the Nedbank Money app by tapping ‘Join Greenbacks’ under ‘Rewards’.

Download the Greenbacks app and log in using your Nedbank ID.

Choose the packages linked to your different Nedbank products or accounts to help you manage your money.
To redeem your rewards:

Select Greenbacks

Click on “Redeem”

Select “Donate to a community” and make your donation using your Greenbacks points. This donation is converted to cash and for the next three months, will contribute to the relief and recovery programme that is assisting small businesses affected by looting and unrest in four communities in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.
What is the Greenbacks programme?
Nedbank Greenbacks is a money management programme that encourages clients to make good banking choices – and rewards those smart choices. This means that if you are using your Nedbank card to make payments, or make smarter banking choices by banking using digital platforms, you can earn Greenbacks points when on the programme.
