We are excited to share the winning entries in this year’s Brain Waves Development essay competition – proudly sponsored by the Nedbank Proud of my Town programme.

The first prize winner in Group A is Thembelihe Mophuthing, a grade 6 learner from Bethany Combined School in Gauteng. Thembelihe tackled the topic: Do you think the media is doing enough to promote locally-produced products in South Africa?

Thembelihe says no!

“As young as I am I feel I’ve been bombarded with the international brands…”

“What is needed of us to do is to be very supportive when it comes to local businesses and learn to try out new things or products. We never know we might end up loving them more than the imported ones.”
