Energy, passion, encouragement and plenty of laughter are all part of the experience at the Klapmuts bootcamp!

Last week, the Ranyaka team had the privilege to watch this energetic and dedicated group of Klapmuts residents in action when we visited the bootcamp session to hand over 30 brand-new gym mats.

The equipment sponsorship forms part of Nedbank’s Proud of my Town programme. One of the ten focus areas of the programme is Sport, Art and Culture. Exercise isn’t only good for body and mind, it also creates an opportunity for residents to gather, have fun together, build relationships and pursue a common purpose – great health!

The weekly bootcamp was launched in August last year by Charlene Elliott from Klapmuts Health & Wellness. Over the past eight months, the bootcamp has grown from 24 to 100 members.

“The community of Klapmuts is very close to my heart,” says Charlene. “Motivating the group to exercise and adopt healthier eating habits has already made such a difference. I am simply giving a little of my time on a Tuesday evening. The main goal is to give Klapmuts residents the opportunity to join the bootcamp as families, exercise together and get to know one another. I have planted the seeds and now the trees need to grow!”

Thank you for this wonderful initiative, Charlene! Keep up the great work. The Ranyaka team will have to work on our fitness levels so that we can join in the action one day!

Would you like to support Klapmuts Health & Wellness? The bootcamp is still in need of skipping ropes, balls, hula hoops and resistance bands. Contact Sonya at admin@ranyaka.co.za if you would like to get involved!
