Transforming a community is a team effort – and sustainable, effective transformation that truly has a significant impact on the beneficiaries requires a team effort by all involved.

Friday’s workshop with representatives from a number of Stellenbosch-based NGOs who work in Cloetesville focused on the importance of collaboration. The purpose of the workshop was to gain a real understanding ‘who fits in where’, to identify the gaps and to adopt an approach where the beneficiary – and no particular mandate or agenda – is central to everyone’s interventions.

This workshop enabled us to ‘map’ the activities of NGOs in Cloetesville, providing valuable data for the thoughtful planning of future interventions in that area.

This is only the first of many more workshops and meetings to follow and served as a test run for a slightly different approach.
