KLAPMUTS
WESTERN CAPE
“They said that we should put barbed wire on top of the school fence. I said no. This school belongs to the community. It is theirs. They must protect it.” – Ronnie Frans, principal, Klapmuts Primary School.
Klapmuts has a rich history which is still evident in some of the historical buildings that are still in use. The Klapmuts Hotel, for example, dates back to the 1800s and is the second oldest hotel in the Western Cape. Today, Klapmuts is home to a diverse community with the potential to become a thriving hub to serve the surrounding area. It is also home to dynamic community members who are demonstrating what it means to “be the change you want to see in the world”.
